Laleh Khorramian

Startling mixed media works from this New York-based Iranian artist. Her pieces less describe the end result of art than the process itself, starting with sketches, middling with paintings and ending with film; the viewfinder acting as a microscope to works in progress, and narratives suggested by low-tech stop frame effects with haunting audio. Free-form drawings and monotypes in oil, crayon, pen and ink are referred to as ‘macro views’ while the films are ‘micro’ – inseparable entities with disparate identities. Short films Sophie and Goya and Chopperlady are the show’s tour de force.
