ABOUT

The twins Jose Luis and Jose Carlos Martinat, have been developing their career for 12 years, on different continents. Jose Luis from Sweden, where he lives and produces his art and Jose Carlos from Mexico and Peru, places where he works and lives. Both have been maintaining their careers independently until this new project, which will be presented simultaneously in the spaces of the two Peruvian galleries representing them. Revolver gallery representing Jose Carlos and Galeria Lucia de la Puente representing Jose Luis.
This Project begins from the concept of “the eternal return” which consists in accepting that all events, all past, present and future situations will constantly repeat, the world extinguishes to create itself again. Under this conception, the world goes back to its origin through conflagration, where everything burns in fire. Once burned, it reconstructs so the same events can happen one more time.
In this way, Martinat brothers create for both galleries a series of sound and sculptoric installations, containing audios, phrases and images in which the repetition sets the rhythm of Reading. Hypnotic pieces that by the use of motors and audiotapes draw “sacred geometry” graphics and that solemnly pronounce audios of a common present, past and future. Spaces and contemplative sculptures where the evocation to nature is a constant and it is tin her skin where its evidenced the persistent eternal return of the acts of a society in which normally the personal and political objectives has the same start, end and error, where the stories condense in one story, in one fact, in one trance, in one unique experience that repeats continually, as in an infinite loop.
