BRAKE BABY

TACHO is pleased to present the fifth site specific intervention on the traffic education ground in Kreuzberg by the artist Stef Heidhues.

In her artistic practice, Stef Heidhues explores on shifting, friction and collapses in the field and appearance of urban society. As barriers, detours and shutoff devices, permanently installed or as flexible devices for hedging smaller areas, fences in various forms and dimensions constantly affect and impact the course of movement of a city. At the same time transparent and graphic, permeable and rigid, they overlay the urban space with a system of rasterized membranes.

In the semi-artificial street scene of the traffic education ground, Stef Heidhues’ installation BRAKE BABY turns the moment of interruption and irritation into one of visual deceleration, and thus summons us to question everyday system barriers.
