Rates of Exchange – German Artists from the State of NRW in Croatia

The Rates of Exchange exhibition is the first part of a project conceived as an artistic exchange between Croatia and Germany: following a guest exhibition of German artists in the Museum of Contemporary Art, a selection of Croatian artists will present their works in Germany.

The presentation in Croatia of the current art scene of the German state of NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen / North Rhine – Westphalia) has been conceived as a model for bringing part of the art scene of Western Europe closer to the art scene of Croatia. The selection of artists is not an attempt to determine the current character of the entire visual art scene in Germany or to define a particular artistic group. It is a presentation of interesting individual art positions that developed in NRW in the last decade, whose artistic language has placed them in a leading position. This joint display is an attempt to create a rhizomatic network of different approaches, which make up one single exhibition body.

Artists exhibiting their works are: Alexandra Bircken, Peter Ewig, Diango Hernandez, Tobias Hantmann, Freya Hattenberger, Rita Kanne, Jan Scharrelmann, Monika Stricker, Nikola Ukić and Stefan Wissel.
