Speak to Me: The Connecticut Biennial 2008

ABOUT

Join us and 18 artists whose work will “Speak to You.” Ted Efremoff put on a suit and traveled the streets of Waterbury asking people to not only to speak to him but to affix their thoughts to his suit. See the suit, speak to the artist. Peter Waite’s sculpture Monster From the Deep speaks to our shared memory of popular culture. Steven DiGiovanni’s painting, Original Sin, addresses the nature of close relationships and how they change with time. Guest curators Janice LaMotta and Salvatore Scalora traveled the state to search out the newest and most forward-looking art being produced. From painting to video, from installation to performance, it will SPEAK TO YOU. Artists in the exhibition: Krysten Bailey, Diane Brainerd, Ellen Carey, Deborah Dancy, Steven DiGiovanni, Ted Efremoff, Sam Ekwurtzel, Letty Fonteyne, Gene Gort, Zbigniew Grzyb, Nathan Lewis, Christopher Mir, Olu Oguibe, Yolando Vasquez Petrocelli, Caleb Portfolio, Kerri Quirk, Nelson Ramirez, and Peter Waite.
