TIỂU SỬ

Patrick Tuttofuoco was born in 1974 in Milan, Italy, where he continues to live and work. Pieces, such as “Y” (2004), explore and pervert the modernist lexicon, using sensuous materials, including neon Plexiglas and mirrored surfaces inspired by club aesthetics. The issues of displacement and mobility are also central to Tuttofuoco's practice. Accompanied by two film-makers and an architect, the artist recently embarked on a tour of the seventeen fastest growing cities in the world, primarily situated in India and China. For his installation “Chindia” (2006), Tuttofuoco realized giant models of Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Delhi, accompanied by a map entitled “The Line Up” (2006), which positioned India and China at the center of the world. His photograph "Fear No More" (2006) shows a Chinese woman kissing an Indian man – a symbol of drastic geopolitical changes.

Recent solo exhibitions and projects include “Mirrors and Windows” at Pilar Corrias, London (2009), “First Person Plural” at Studio Guenzani, Milan (2009), “Dandelion” at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2008) and “Enel Contemporanea”, Piazza del Popolo, Rome (2007). His work has also been shown as part of “Linguaggi e sperimentazioni. Giovani artisti in una collezione contemporanea” at MART, Rovereto (2010), “The show continues upstairs” at Supportico Lopez, Berlin (2009), “Integracion y resistencia en la era global”, the 10th Havana Biennial, Havana (2009), “Italics” at Palazzo Grassi, Venice (2008), “Tarantula” at Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, Milan (2008) and “Tales of Time and Space”, the 1st Folkestone Triennial, Folkestone (2008).

Patrick Tuttofuoco is represented by Pilar Corrias, London and Studio Guenzani, Milan.
