“Liberi Tutti! Art and Society in Italy, 1989-2001” is the title of the exhibition running from 9 July at the MEF, Museo Ettore Fico in Turin. The exhibition, promoted and organized by MEF, is an historical voyage in the Italian near-contemporary art panorama between two crucial events: the fall of the Berlin Wall and the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington D.C. These two dates represent the symbolic extremes of a period of time marked by substantial social, political and economic changes: the advent of digital culture, the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the ever-growing success of globalization, the increasing awareness of climate change and sustainability, the attention to lesser-known cultures from geographical areas hitherto marginal.
