Erin Cosgrove is an artist and writer living in Los Angeles who received her MFA from University of California, Los Angeles in 2001.
Her ongoing project, Seven Romance Novels, is comprised of the performance and publishing of seven different romance novels-The Baader-Meinhof Affair, False Puppy Love, The Hand-Me-Down Boyfriend, Kate's M.R.S. Degree, Love's Other Shoe, Sycophant Love and The Two-Timing Two-Stepper-from the point of view of seven different authors all named Erin Cosgrove. The first book in the series, The Baader-Meinhof Affair, is published by Printed Matter, Inc. in 2003 with a German translation by blumenbar, Munich in 2005.
Recently her work has been in bookstores, galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Canada, Germany, and New Zealand, on Amazon.com, at the Brooklyn Museum, Kunst Werke in Berlin, Landesmuseum Joanneum in Graz, Austria, and WPS1 radio. In Spring 2005 Cosgrove made a six-city tour of Germany and Switzerland for the German publication. In 2003 Cosgrove was chosen to make a "mini pilot" (based on The Baader-Meinhof Affair) for the Sundance Channel.
In addition to receiving the prestigious 2004-2005 John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, she has received a Durfee Foundation ARC Grant, a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Fellowship, and a Jerome Installation Grant. Cosgrove's work has also received support from the New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs, The Andy Warhol Foundation, the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation and the Heyday Foundation.
