ABOUT

This exhibition emerging from the Per Amor a l’Art Collection constitutes a journey through Japanese art from the 1950s up to the present.

The exhibition focuses on the photographic medium and the artists involved in the formation of Vivo (1957-1961) such as Shomei Tomatsu and Akira Sato, as well as the collective responsible for Provoke magazine (Provocative Materials for Thought) (1968), such as Yutaka Takanashi and Daido Moriyama.

The experimental way in which these artists presented images as products of an era characterised by political events of great relevance became a phenomenon and a reference for many other Japanese artists to come.

Apart from the aforementioned photographers, the exhibition showcases the bodies of work of Nabuyoshi Araki, Koji Enkoura, Tamiko Nishimura, and Noritoshi Hirakawa, among others.
