ABOUT

Moderno, El Arte De Vivir: Caught in the Influence from Josef Albers to Cecilia Vicuña, will be shown at Museum Centro Pepe Espaliu, tucked away in a sleepy residential neighborhood beyond the river of Zújar, an ancient roman town and Capital of the Omeyas Caliphate. It is curated by Kandor13, a gallery-like outfit run by the artists Pablo Jansana and Felix Lazo.

The group exhibition is the high point of the landmark year 2016 for the center. For the exhibition, which was jointly conceived by Kandor13 and all the museum’s curators, fifteen international artists have been invited to engage in depth with the institution and to react to the question of what the Museum Centro Pepe Espaliu means to them along the statement Moderno, El Arte De Vivir. “Mi Casa es tu Casa". To this end, members of Kandor13 will spend several weeks living and working in La Fragua, Belalcazar, which has been transformed into an artist residency.

The selection of fifteen participating artists spanning every continent deliberately underscores Kandor13's global approach to the museum collection. For instance, they maintain close contacts with New York, where they met artist Pablo Jansana in the mid- 2013 s.

Now K13 will translate important exhibition titles from the history of the museum as well as its logo into a sensual and poetic landscape of undulating seating and murals.

Moderno, El Arte De Vivir: Caught in the Influence from Josef Albers to Cecilia Vicuña will take place at the Museum Centro Pepe Espaliú, opening September 22.

The exhibition is on view Sept 22 to Dec 23 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Museum Centro Pepe Espaliu.
