ABOUT

Polish art has for some years in many places present, in Germany, in Europe and beyond. This is understandable, but is the current Polish scene very lively and also well represented in the art market. Nevertheless, there is still much to discover.

The starting point of the exhibition in the Sculpture Glaskasten Marl is a small group of sculptures from the Werner Jerke collection, among others, Katarzyna Kobro and Alina Szapocznikow. The middle generation is represented by two protagonists who play in contemporary Polish art an important role: Józef Robakowski and Ryszard Wasko, both of which have been studied at the State Academy of Film, Television and Theatre Lódz in the 1970s, and also at the same time members of the influential Warsztat Formy Filmowej / workshop of film form were. Opposing them are artists of the younger generation as Marlena Kudlicka, Agnieszka Polska, Krystian Czaplicki Truth or Wilhelm Sasnal, take up the conceptual or constructive inventions and reassemble in individual transformation.

The exhibition of Polish art in Marl belongs to a joint initiative with the Kunstmuseum Bochum, Kunsthalle Recklinghausen and sculptures Glaskasten Marl private "museum Jerke" welcome that on 24 April 2016 Recklinghausen with a top-class collection of modern Polish art will open.
