"Alt Neu” is the third of the three opening group shows at Rosenbach Contemporary dealing with different stereotypes of private Jerusalem galleries.

"Alt-Neu" addresses the artistic environment of Rosenbach Gallery, located on King David Street in Jerusalem among traditional Judaica galleries.

The exhibition will draw a conceptual line between Judaica, as a practice of functional objects (utensils) and fine-art, as a practice of nonfunctional objects. The show will propose a connection between these two opposing artistic ends, perceiving both as objects that belong to the spiritual world representing visual/ formalistic/ material methodologies, aimed to express abstract ideas.

The exhibition spans diverse approaches to the subject of spirituality as a whole and to the Jewish religion in particular, dealing with the historic identity of the Jewish Diaspora, with local definitions of the self, with common social stereotypes of Judaism or with matters of private-spiritual relatio.
