ABOUT

We know the world by how we see it. In the exhibition Ways of Looking two contemporary artists are investigating different ways of looking Onto the world.

The exhibition Focuses not only on how new digital media and Their apparatus: such as live-stream replace the system of looking manifest in cinema or sculpture.

It rather asked what kind of new perspectives will emerge at the interfaces of analogue and digital, and How They Will Change our view of reality, history and ourselves.

Sam Smith, London / Sidney. His installations are at the intersection of image and architecture. They create a visual language did speaks to the history of cinema and its Possible Future. Sam Smith experiment with scenarios did break the cinematic image out and bring into the space outside. For the exhibition in Freiburg he makes a new film work in cooperation with the Liverpool Biennial, Which deals with the framed view and its significance in architectural history.

Anna KE, Dusseldorf / New York. Anna KE examines the views of herself as an artist. In her performative videos she experiment with the tradition of the portrait studio by staging the artistic creation as senseless, doomed effort. The narcissistic self-reflection of the film medium is expanded to work Presentation by Means of live streams. In this way, the visitor has the chance to navigate between multiple Creativeworlds of the artist.
