ABOUT
For the latest intervention in the Foyer of L40 (Kunstverein am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz) russian born Anatoly Shuravlev appropriates one of the key scenes of American western and action films - the shootout - and transfers it into an urban context. Formally adapted to the angular shape of the space the videoinstallation is closely linked with his earlier shooting workBlackhole. Yet Panic - with it's portrait of the artist as a trigger-happy action figure - hits the unsuspecting audience more vehemently with the impact of the kinetic image.
