ABOUT

Are the data the new oil, a source of potentially infinite wealth? Are ammunition loading weapons of mass surveillance? Or are they to be, above all, an opportunity, a tool for awareness, prevention, efficiency and transparency, an instrument to build a more transparent and participatory democracy?

All data generated from our mobile, through sensors, social networks, digital photos and videos, records of purchase transactions and GPS signals. The novelty is that it is increasingly easy to store and process this vast amount of data that detect patterns (incidents, behavioral, consumer, voting, investment, etc.).

Big Bang Data is a project that explores the phenomenon of data explosion in which we are immersed. Since the last five years there is a broad awareness among academics, scientists, governments, business and culture, that generate, process and, above all, interpret data that are developing technologies can radically change our society.

The exhibition is co-produced by Fundación Telefónica and the CCCB and curated by Olga Subiró s José Luis de Vicente .In her creators involved Timo Arnall , Aaron Koblin , Ingo Günther , Brendan Dawes ,  Erik Kessels ,Jaime Serra and Santiago Ortiz .  Researchers, activists , designers, educators, analysts, cartographers, engineers, economists, architects, journalists, programmers, journalists offering different approaches to the phenomenon of Big Data.
