The museological institution is a creation of the democratic and secularised society that found within it models for the diffusion of artistic creation as well as creation of another nature for free citizens with equal rights of access to education and culture. Today, more than ever, we must accept the museum as a space of freedom and critical confrontation with reality. In specific cases such as this museum, which besides being public is one of the last with free admission in Spain, its rooms make up what is traditionally referred to as public space, as if it were another garden or square of this World Heritage city.

The relationship with the individual creations of artists who think about domestic space in a multifaceted way, their relationship with society (as a documentary approach or, at the other end of the range of possibilities, with proposals anchored in a strangeness that causes distancing) reveals ways of looking at what surrounds us with greater critical complicity. As in the public space, in a museum (and, now, in these rooms) we bear witness to that which most radically defines us: death, indifference, fiction realised and reality fictionalised, the desire for collective self-improvement, love, the unexpected or political positioning, in such a complex tessitura as life itself. Without prejudices we will be free. With greater freedom we will be able to preserve the contemporary heritage for future generations.
