ABOUT

Osage Gallery Soho is pleased to present "Wilson Shieh Live in Soho".

During the four-week residency, Wilson Shieh will open up his temporary studio to the public and he will invite people to experience with him the creation of a new body of work. Started as a way to incorporate the "behind the scene" aspect of exhibition making, the project will serve as a medium to lessen the distance between the place of art creation and the place for art appreciation.

The point of the project was to create a situation where people where able to experience the creation of artworks onsite. The artist, by getting closer to the viewer, and allowing them to experience the work in all its stages of development, will depart from his usual practice and work in a more dynamic and energetic way. By distancing from his usual manner of operation and incorporating elements of change and improvisation, Shieh will be able to re-focus on his identity as an artist and on his emotional relation with Hong Kong.

Even if the subject matter will still focus on human figures, this new body of works will explore a deeper understanding of local social issues and current affairs.
