ABOUT

What happens when the structure and order, which typically is the premise for exhibitions and collections is omitted and replaced by principles of coincidence and autonomy?

The artists behind the Copenhagen nonprofit exhibition venue Koh-i-noor are arranging an exhibition, which can be experienced in Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art from the 8th of January. A large number of Danish and international artists, both established and younger artists, have been invited to participate in an exhibition concept which challenge the community, and question our ideas about how an exhibition is supposed to look.

The idea behind the exhibition is that each artist for one thing contribute with one, for the organizers unknown, piece of work and also with a motivated desire to inhabit a certain place in the exhibition rooms at Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art. The organizers renounce from taking control of how the works relate to each other and also of the finished expression of the exhibition. The exhibition question the unpredictability and the chaos which probably will arise, and it challenge our ideas of the work categories and the exhibition as media. Does the identity of each work disappear? Does complications arise? Or does brand new narratives arise based on the exhibition as a whole?
