BIOGRAPHY

Dave McDermott was born in 1974 in Santa Cruz, USA and obtained his BFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco (2004) and his Masters of Fine Arts at the Parsons School of Design in 2007. Dave McDermott was awarded residencies at Frans Masareel Centrum in Belgium (2008) and the Zabludowicz Collection in Sarvisalo, Finland (2010).

McDermott's paintings, drawings, and collages draw their imagery and ideas from historical material, documents, books, and ephemera. His enigmatic compositions of cultural signifiers and modernist aesthetics are at once elegant and evocative.
