Todd Arsenault (b. 1977 Milford, Connecticut) received an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2003 and a BFA from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in 1999. Selected exhibitions include The Vortex is Obscene at Galería Fúcares in Madrid, Spain (2010); A Moving World at Gallery W.52 in New York (2007); New York Style at Angell Gallery in Toronto (2006); and Todd Arsenault at Massimo Audiello Gallery in New York (2005). He is represented by Galería Fúcares in Madrid, Spain. Todd Arsenault lives and works in New York and Pennsylvania.
New York-based artist and musician Todd Arsenault primarily works with the medium of paint. He explores the conceptual and formal exchange between traditional and technology based mediums. To these ends his work at once embraces and rejects technology as a way to continually question its role in the process of painting. Through layering disparate visual fragments from sources that include old and new media, found images from the Internet and images gathered during his travels, Arsenault’s paintings function as a conduit. Conceptually the pieces signify and codify nostalgia and memory through a cumulative historical existence.
