BIOGRAPHY

Anna Sew Hoy (b. 1976) was born in Auckland, NZ and lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. She received her MFA from Bard College in 2008 and her BFA from School of Visual Arts in 1998. Anna Sew Hoy has held solo exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum, the San Jose Museum of Art, CA; Sikkema, Jenkins & Co., NY; Koenig & Clinton, NY; LAXART, Los Angeles; and Various Small Fires, Los Angeles. Her work has also been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach, CA; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; and the Asia Society, NY.

Sew Hoy was awarded a Creative Capital Grant for Visual Arts (2014); a California Community Foundation Grant for Emerging Artists (2013) and the United States Artists Broad Fellowship (2006) and has held residencies at Heart of Los Angeles, the Space Program at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, and Ceramica Suro, Guadalajara, Mexico. She is in the permanent collections of notable institutions such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Hammer Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and The Altoids Museum.
