Birthe Blauth

Conceptual and video artist Birthe Blauth's works examine human individuality in the tension between cultural, biographical and neurological parameters. Her image sequences playfully combine fiction with reality and their subtle variations prompt the observer to question his or her own perceptions. 

 

Blauth holds a PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. She specialised on iconography, mythology and religious ethnology. She received the HausderKunst award 2004 and the Dr. Theobald Simon prize in 2011. Selected solo shows include the Künstlerforum Bonn, 532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel New York and on the UNPAINTED media art fair Munich. Selected group shows include ISCP Brooklyn/NY, German Consulate General New York, ikono On Air Festival, Künstlerhaus Vienna.
