Kim Seob Boninsegni (b. 1974, Seoul) uses a wide range of mediums, from video to drawing, writing, performance or installation. His work aims at defining a field of thought, structured mostly through narrative. Processed in a non-linear manner, these narratives are crystallized through shapes, images, displays and tactics that appear as traces or hints of an otherwise unveiled totality.
Whether social, cultural or political, the core of his work is often overlaid with temporary activities (curator, critic, community involvement, teaching, etc.) from which he extracts language or specific issues before including them in a production process. The landscape generated from this activity crosses various fields, which are handled in a non-hierarchical manner, sometimes directing the final manifestation towards some kind of absurdity or irony.
Kim Soeb Boninsegni is represented by Guy Bärtschi Gallery in Geneva and KARMA International in Zurich.
He lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland.
