Mario Ybarra Jr. (b. 1973 Los Angeles) received an MFA in Studio Art from the University of California at Irvine in Irvine, California, in 2001, a BFA from the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in 1999 and studied at the Art Center College of Art in Pasadena, California, in 1996. Selected exhibitions include the upcoming Phantom Sightings: Art After the Chicano Movement at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (2008); Bring Me the Head Of... at the Anna Helwing Gallery in Los Angeles (2007); The World as a Stage, curated by Jessica Morgan, at the Tate Modern in London (2007); and the Prague Biennial (2007). He is a founder of the art collective Slanguage. Mario Ybarra Jr. lives and works in Los Angeles.
