Avantgarde & Desaster

The practice of the APT artist group FAMED can be best described as a reflection process, which examines the constitutive systems within the field of the arts. In their exhibition, this discussion takes place with respect to the potential of the new, whose always implicit failure is claimed in the very title of the show: Avantgarde & Desaster. FAMED dedicates themselves to the coining of new connotations for concepts and categories through both quotations and references. Traditional topics of art discourse, such as authorship, are often dealt with in the lightness of wordplay or through (self)-ironic commentaries. Language and its transformation into writing play a major role for FAMED as one is able to see in those works especially created for the Remise and the extended exhibition space.
