Landscapes evoke a variety of feelings: from emotion and enchantment to desolateness or inhospitality. Throughout history, many artists have been inspired by the sensation of landscapes. This has resulted in paintings and sculptures of endless beaches, seas and mountain ranges, as well as breathtaking forests and rivers. Sometimes depicted in a sensitive and poetical manner, at others presented as savage and dark. The artistic expressions often bear witness to the inner emotional world of the artist.
