ABOUT

The KUNSTSAELE is pleased to present a three-part intermedia performance series over two days, arranged by choreographer Tarren Johnson. For "Preservation" Johnson extends an open form score of original poetry, to be danced by Yuri Shimaoka with piano accompaniment by Forrest Moody. Winston Chmielinski will perform a text by redacting and reacting to his own writing and found passages, as Mira O'Brien presents an architectural, performative installation throughout the evening.

The score becomes a small step toward solving the impossible task of preserving ephemeral art forms. The evening's proceedings are structured around an 'event score', developed by Johnson and her collaborators, which serves as a script for how the artists' compositions weave into a larger structure.
