NEW ORDER + LIAM GILLICK: SO IT GOES..

MANCHESTER INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 2017, London, London, 06/29/2017 - 07/15/2017

Old Granada Studios, St. John’s, Manchester

ABOUT

New Order take over Stage 1 of Manchester’s iconic Old Granada Studios for this special series of intimate shows, created in collaboration with two close associates: visual artist Liam Gillick, who has previously presented solo exhibitions at venues such as Tate Britain and MoMA in New York; and composer-arranger Joe Duddell, a fellow son of Manchester and a frequent collaborator with the band.

For New Order + Liam Gillick: So it goes.., the group will be deconstructing, rethinking and rebuilding a wealth of material from throughout their career: familiar and obscure, old and new. To perform it live, they’ll be joined by a 12-strong synthesiser ensemble from the Royal Northern College of Music, with Joe Duddell providing the orchestrations.

Inspired by this reinvention of the band’s catalogue, Liam Gillick will be transforming the historic Stage 1 into an immersive environment, creating a stage set that reacts dynamically to the music. MIF17 – so it goes…

Curated by Dave Haslam & Mark Beasley.

Location: Old Granada Studios, St. John’s, Manchester
