ABOUT

Margo Victor’s most recent solo exhibition was comprised of an installation of sound, digital imagery and sculptural abstraction. For LAMOA her current installation includes a 16 mm film and representational sculpture in the form of tangible vessels and objects.

Referring to the Mesoamerican civilizations- their creations, monuments and legacies, Victor has created vessels as stand-ins in homage to their lasting effects on culture and cultural output.

Victor’s ongoing interest with the idea to represent blood and what it means on film is recurrent in this work. The paradox of abstraction vs. representation is created on film around the idea of blood; its viscosity, the way it behaves, drips, dries… all of the essentials that connect what we expect and understand in representation – of blood.

Beyond this, the film represents sacrifice, casualties, and of course life.
