Through the Lens

Through the Lens captures the year-long journey of 21 schools in East London and the East Midlands that teamed up to ask the question, ‘What are British Values?” From rural Derbyshire to urban London, what do these children have in common, and what is distinct about their lives?

Together with artist Nadege Meriau and their teachers, the children were encouraged to research and perform the meaning of their names, and explore issues of identity, home and sense of belonging through photography, mask making and story telling, using digital and film cameras.
