Please join us for a cordial evening of Dominoes and rum + a screening of Agarrando Pueblo (The Vampires of Poverty) directed by Luis Ospina and Carlos Mayolo (Colombia, 1978). Agarrando Pueblo (The Vampires of Poverty) is a mockumentary about the Third World poverty utilized for commercial ends. By revealing the filmic instruments and tactics involved in the documentary filmmaking process, the piece is a scathing criticism against the opportunism and dishonesty of documentary filmmakers, who cater "Third World misery porno" to the Western cultural industry and win prizes.
