This event will take place on Church Street, just around the corner from The Showroom

In conjunction with his exhibition Provisional Studies: Action #5 Conceiving the Past, Perceiving the Present, artist Koki Tanaka revisits Church Street’s historical night market (which closed just after WW2) with a one night special event that will keep a small part of the market, and additional stalls, open into the evening.

Tanaka’s project addresses the interrelationships of community and conflict, history and legacy. As part of this, Tanaka has invited artists to 'take a stand' in relation to the EU referendum, addressing how, for over six decades the European Union has contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights, and how British exit from this could be the first step towards its unravelling.
