Bed Bondage / Anti Stationnement

Esplanade du Grimaldi Forum, Monte Carlo, 04/29/2016

Esplanade du Grimaldi Forum, 10 Av. Princesse Grace, 98000 Monaco

ABOUT

For Nuit Blanche Monaco, Bettina Allamoda designed a sculpture composed mainly of materials ready for use, as well as processed materials mainly imported from Berlin. The finished shape is designed to grow and develop within the environment; it will be created on site and especially designed for the site. Using the principle of sculptural twist, the fabric supports the structure as a center stand. The artist uses the esplanade of the Grimaldi Forum as a point of "suspension" connected to the extremely soft fabric, reinforcing construction.

Born in Chicago in 1964, Bettina Allamoda lives and works in Berlin. Far from being confined to her own artistic production, combining performance, collage, sculpture and video, the artist alternates points of view of the curator, writer or editor. The origin of her work is the analysis and updating of visibility strategies at work in popular cultural phenomena, such as fashion, art and architecture, questioning discursively social roles and functions of art today.

She has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, including personal exhibitions: "newbuild" Verein für Kunst und Kultur Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Berlin; "Expo 2014", Manfred Pernice, Brandenburgischer Kunstverein, Potsdam; "Hybrid Naples 2013", Fondazione Morra Greco, Naples; "No Go - The Exorcist revisited / Brick Security" Kunsthaus Erfurt; "Public Fabric 2009", with Rainer Kamlah, BM Suma Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul; "Wall wear / Nation Building" Hubert Bächler Gallery, Zurich; To Die For (mit Nikolaus Utermöhlen), Berlin.
