PREFACE

Since launching at the top of 2016, the Philly Block Project has been sparking connections, not only between South Kensington’s residents, but with the artists helping to preserve the community’s heritage.

Serving as a visual introduction to the collaboration, ‘Preface’ (March 10, 2016 – April 30, 2016) invites viewers to follow the creative journey that brought each artist to the Philly Block Project team. Curated by PPAC Executive Director Sarah Stolfa and Philly Block Project lead photographer Hank Willis Thomas, ‘Preface’ will feature the personal work of Thomas and collaborating photographers, including Lisa Fairstein, Wyatt Gallery, Hiroyuki Ito, Will Steacy, and Lori Waselchuk.

Providing a forum for continued dialogue and engagement, ‘Preface’s’ opening reception on Mach 10 will kick off with an artist panel discussion, as well as a Community Meeting in which residents and visitors are invited to share meaningful conversations about Philly Block Project.
