ABOUT

A solo  exhibition "Let a thousand flowers bloom" of APT artist Mei Xian Qiu edited by Alfio Borghese.

The Chinese and American pop art explodes in these photos of Mei Xian Qiu: a series of images made in the digital, printed on plexiglass, to mock the contemporary world, to make fun of the new China's power and awe of America, united in the kiss of two men in uniform; and even Beijing, nightmare of the world, with the soldier Maoist conquering Hollywood and the ring that the door has the symbols of War directed by the Chinese in Korea.

Sensual and burlesque representations to describe the most common prejudices of that world with alienating images of beautiful women next to the dismembered bodies in the slaughterhouse; or the delirium of seductive faces of women and children, frail examples of a decadent society and irritating.

Mien Xian Qiu grew up in Central Java, Indonesia, a Chinese enclave, escaped by chance in the genocide of its people in 1969 and sought refuge in Los Angeles, in her photos expresses the sense of disorientation due to lack of firm roots, but also it offers the sharpest prejudices that affect the Chinese in Los Angeles, from the "Mille Fiori" revolution, from which the exhibition takes its title from the little red book of Mao, from the vision of the Chinese people as a new Mongol horde invades the contemporary world.
