As might be expected, surprised the invited artist in the spring of last year, in the autumn of 2015 with their first ideas and designs for the existing since 1989 sculpture park of the Kunstmuseum Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen. The exhibition presents the now fully present sketches and models for possible new works of art for the first time before the public. Striking intensively all participating artists have made reference to the cultural and historical particularities of the situation found and statements formulated which bind the sculpture park for more than 25 years of its existence with new artistic issues and methods in the present day.

The most striking feature is that come into play instead of figurative bronzes that the majority of the works so far account for now sound (Robin Minard), Film (Jenny Perlin), light (Bjørn Melhus), painting (Alicia Paz), photography and language. Not all designed in a material form in itself is the bearer of expression, it is sometimes more vessel or storage of artistic effect. Ever have self-awareness, memory (Sven Johne) or usability (Nathan Coley) and change (Tilo Schulz), components of a new concept of sculpture, the social content and sees itself, at the same time invites you to explore and play. Sculpture is understood in its material and open in the effect varied. This goes beyond physical or traditional body-space relations, as our everyday life has long since moved in so many media spaces inside to find information, orientation and entertainment.

To gain a clearer characteristic for this unique experience space, suggests the landscape architect Axel Lohr (Munich / Magdeburg) at two points of the sculpture park design changes before, the offer of integration of current art new and specific spaces. He inserts a space and a garden. He thereby creates a greater clarity in the urban presence of the totality of medieval architecture, already established and future art works as well as inner-city landscape.

One thing is certain, with the realization of such projects in this and in the coming years, the sculpture park of a place of contemplation of art history will be more of a place for the senses and the experience, which invites you to stay.

Alicia Paz is showing “Tree” model: painted steel and enamel on copper, 75 cm high, designed by Alicia Paz in consultation with Elizabeth Turrell, fabricated by James Shearer,
