ABOUT

APT artist Randa Mirza is participating "Photomed 2015" the Mediterranean Photography Festival born in Sanary . She echos the excitement of Beirut, presenting " Pigeon Cave" snapshots of young divers from the famous Rock Pigeon.

Public space, wild and city at once, Dalieh is a peninsula of Beirut; stolen a place in time, away from the noise and urban frenzy. Surrounded by water stands "the cave pigeon," a rock and annexed to the city arch dug by the sea. It is said that at the top of these cliffs, the Phoenicians were raising pigeons travelers, loading the messages to other cities. Among the various visitors to the place, a community of swimmers, composed mainly of men, found there to indulge in a hobby where prowess rivals exhibitionism. Between sky and sea, men plunge into the acute awareness of the show. Children, adolescents and adults offer themselves to heights stretch their bodies in grace and weightlessness. Although today the open and public nature of this place is threatened by the combination of financial and state powers, Dalieh is in the heart of a controversy and the issue is a battle between civil society and interest private. The place and resist persists.
