ABOUT

A four-day looped screening of "Promised Land" by the internationally acclaimed Danish, APT artist Nikolaj Bendix Skyum Larsen.

Larsen’s matter takes its departure in ‘real life’ issues - and in recent years displacement and migration has been his main area of research.

With recent media coverage of the migrant campsites in Calais reaching fever pitch, Larsen’s Promised Land offers a poetic counter point. It portrays young migrants Mohammed, Jafar, Hasan, Camron, Khan, Reza and his three-year old son, Nima. They will go to any length to cross the Channel to enter Britain in the hope of finding a better life.

Promised Land combines beautiful cinematography with raw footage captured by migrants themselves to provide insight into their close friendships, hopes and dreams. The film presents the different ways of coping with the misery of their situation, and the dangerous attempts at getting into Britain - their Promised Land.
