ABOUT

APT artist Hank Willis Thomas is presenting "Question Bridge": Black Males" is a documentary-style video art installation that aims to represent and redefine black male identity in America. Since its inception in 1996, the project has recorded more than 1,600 questions and responses that illuminate diversity of thought, character, and identity in America’s black male population. The Phillips joins the more than 30 cultural institutions that have exhibited this compelling installation.

To foster honest expression and healing dialogue, the Question Bridge project allows one participant to ask a question while looking directly into the camera, and later another participant answers the question in the same way. The question-and-answer approach allows speakers to express their feelings on subjects that divide, unite, and puzzle. Artists Chris Johnson, Hank Willis Thomas, Kamal Sinclair, and Bayeté Ross Smith have documented dozens of exchanges in nine American cities and shaped that content into this engaging video installation.
