The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) inaugurates the 5th of December, Saturday at 11 am, an APT artist show "Charif Benhelima: Polaroids, 1998-2012. The exhibition brings together around 130 images taken in Polaroid, and works in large format, one of the greatest Belgian artists in the practice of photography". The artist is considered one of the greatest Belgian names in contemporary photography. His work is today one of the most innovative and subsequent research in Polaroid. On the opening day there will be a guided tour by the curator Daniella Géo at 11 am.

The chief executive Juliana Vosnika underscores the importance of receiving exhibitions of expressive names of visual arts. "The public will have a great opportunity to know the work of one of the most important photographers of our time," he says.

Curated by Daniella Géo and Christophe De Jaeger, the exhibition features about 130 Polaroids and three works in large format (derived from Polaroids), being divided into four series. The project was initiated by the Palais des Beaux-Arts (BOZAR) in Brussels, and was also presented in Niterói Contemporary Art Museum (MAC).

The curator Daniella Géo explains the process: "The adoption of this photograph that autorrevela and many thought ephemeral demarcated a new phase in the artist's creative process, from the establishment of another relationship with the act of shooting - much slower and little control technical, whose resulting picture is unique and flawless. The work of Benhelima deals with visual delicacy and questioning assertive political and social issues today, emergency, such as the notion of belonging / exclusion, living together outside the multiculturalism "he says.

Composed largely as species of figurative abstractions, the Polaroid of Benhelima are imbued with ambiguity. The perception of time, space, the real and the simulacrum is destabilized, and the subjectivity of the observer before the images, and the issues that they raise, takes its constructive role before all representation.
