D'ici et d'ailleurs

Yeondoo Jung is presenting his solo exhibition D'ici et d'ailleurs at Musée d'art contemporain du Val de Marne in Paris from October 24 to March 6, 2016. The artist will feature new work series titled D'ici et d'ailleurs (Here in Elsewhere),which he made in a residency program last July and August. He selected 8 out of his 30 interviews on immigrants he met during the residency and produced each work composed of 11 different layers of photographic images that create depth and dimension in a flat two-dimensional image. Each work contains a small speaker which enables the audience to hear the interview while looking at the work. With these structures in the artwork the audience is able to listen to the personal stories at the border of “Here in Elsewhere” expanded with historical context and human dignity to convey a deeper message
