On the 20th anniversary since Sotheby’s first international auction in the market, we are delighted to be relaunching a dedicated Irish Art sale in London, including a travelling exhibition at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin.
Leading Irish artists of the 20th century – Walter Osborne, Roderic O’Conor, John Lavery, William Orpen, Jack Butler Yeats, Paul Henry – are well represented, including Lavery’s sublime Japanese Switzerland and Orpen’s sensational Nude Girl Reading. In addition, the sale comprises a selection of works by some of the most exciting contemporary artists.

Elizabeth Magill takes landscape as her starting point, but she imbues it with a mysticism and magic through her versatile painting technique. Her paintings depart from any realist interpretation as they become invested with personal emotion and imagination.
