ABOUT

The exhibition shows all the work submitted by the winners and winners of the 34th Austrian graphic competition and those who have been determined on the basis of competition for a purchase. The 34th Austrian graphic competition was announced by the Department of Culture in the Office of the Tyrolean provincial government. The execution was the Galerie im Taxispalais.

  

The idea for the video competition and the accompanying exhibition comes from Paul Flora. The competition was initiated in 1952 by the state of Tyrol. Already at the first competition responded 200 artists from all over Austria. The persistently high number of submissions as well as the price Foundations has the important role of competition, which has become an indispensable institution and brand in the Austrian art scene. As selected by the jury works pass into the collection of the Tyrol, came through the contest many outstanding artistic graphic works in the public domain.   The interest in the competition was great again this year. 

274 entries with up to three works were evaluated by an international jury on June 29 2015th Patrizia Dander, curator Museum Brandhorst, Munich, Dr. Günther Dankl, curator of Tyrolean Provincial Museum, Innsbruck and Genoveva Rückert, curator OK Center for Contemporary Art Upper Austria, Linz chose the eleven award winners and laureates and certain further five works, the questions from the available by the State of Tyrol acquired.   The price benefactors of this traditional competition among the highest allocations, the Province of Tyrol, followed by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and the provincial capital Innsbruck. With graded lower sums are all the other federal states, with the exception of Salzburg and Styria, represented. In addition to the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Tirol AG, a sponsor from the banking sector. For the first time two years ago launched George and Alice Eisler Foundation Fund holds for visual artists and composers with a generous Price Foundation.  

 All entries were assessed by the jury in a one-day competitions. The tender specifications included the following criteria: Approved were works of all graphic techniques on paper, including the new media: drawing, watercolor, printmaking, photocopy, computer graphics, CD-ROM in the form of prints. The submitted works must have originated from the 2013. Each / participant / in was entitled to up to three unframed works up to a maximum size of 1.50 x 1.50 m submit.   

The state of Tyrol sees his long-term financial as well as organizational commitment for the Austrian graphic competition as an indispensable and important contribution to contemporary Austrian and South Tyrolean art scene. The selected winning and purchased work are a great addition to the collection of the Tyrol, into which they are incorporated. The thus for decades grown Collection occupies an impressive way the development and modification of graphical techniques and means whilst still reflecting the current artistic concepts and expressions resist, "said Dr. Beate Palfrader, Regional Minister of Education, Family and Culture of the Province of Tyrol.  

 In order to express the meaning and significance of the Austrian graphic competition, is this year's main prize winner Judith Fegerl - awarded the prize of Tyrol - dedicated a solo exhibition within the next graphic competition 2017th 2013 the prize went to Roman Pfeffer for his compositions Series (2012/2013). In his solo exhibition entitled braintwister (Mazzocchio), which can now be seen in parallel with the exhibition of the 34th graphics competition at the Galerie im Taxispalais, he shows sculptural works, which give in conjunction with the award-winning series of 2013 insight into his artistic practice ,
