ABOUT

Three artists, a musician, a painter and a filmmaker, communicating with each other through sound and reinterpret images musical scores of Domenico Gabrielli, Johann Sebastian Bach and Benjamin Britten.
Welcoming and rereading the affinities and links between past and present, give rise to a score sonorovisiva that reveals the concept of declination of tradition and historical and cultural heritage.
Measuring up a genre, that of the solo cello, which Gabrielli turned in the late seventeenth century in a genre new and hitherto unthinkable, the three artists trace and regenerate the common thread that unites the three composers: the literature for cello solo. An extraordinary example of how to undo centuries later under a bond based on mutual references and aesthetic affinities.

While a video of Franzoi reinterprets, projecting comeback and looped musical performances of cello Cipolli, a strip of canvas work of Zanet proposes a sort of pentagram in which music written into image.
The quotations and references reveal ties sometimes unsuspected between classical music, contemporary abstract art and new technologies.

Francesca Pergreffi writes: "Giulio Zanet leads his art through a process based on the power of images. The images on which focuses not have pre-existing images are those that are generated when you let yourself speak the primary element: the painting. For Zanet painting it is the hub, and the spontaneous approach that has with it is the original stimulus that the way to his artistic practice. He is attracted by the potential and the freedom of painting, the research and welcomes without fear. It not by the constraints, surrenders to the chaos of the original and from there try, very slowly, to give to the composition of the painting. The contact with the canvas is for him to bipolar nature: he manages to be simultaneously carnal and bursting ; and to make a subtraction of the pictorial gesture.

For Zanet color is a key element because it is formless matter that at the same time draws; in fact, it defines a space on the canvas of creating contour lines that generate the forms. The composition in his work becomes a game of roles, where every element plays by affinity or contrast with others.

Considering the interest of Zanet for ambiguity, repetition, variation, the acceptance, the evidence, and the denial upon which his representative proceeding, it is clear why it is not interested in the univocality message of his works. He does not care, because it believes that would challenge the very first communication, namely the act of vision and the multiplicity of readings that acts as part of the user. In his work, Zanet not search code decoding because it is interested in freedom of interpretation. Besides painting for him is the essence of everything and must be free, as Duchamp said: "I remember a professor of physics always said that you can not define electricity. You can not say what it is but you know what it does. The same goes for art. ""
