Sala Mendoza is pleased to present “Art Motion” a three-day pop-up exhibition on view at Ludlow Studios from May 13th to May 15th, 2015. This will be Sala Mendoza’s first pop-up exhibition ever organized in New York City.

The show will feature a selection of work by 25 renown and emerging Venezuelan artists including Ángel Marcano, Arnoll Cardales, Aureliano Parra, Carmela Fenice, Cipriano Martínez, Deborah Castillo, Diana Rangel, Emilio Narciso, Esperanza Mayobre, Hayfer Brea, José Vívenes, Juan Iribarren, Leonardo Nieves, Lucia Pizzani, María Virginia Pineda, Muu Blanco, Nelson Ponce, Paul Parrella, Pedro Cruz, Rafael Rangel, Sergio Barrios El Hase, Starsky Brines, Violette Bule, and Yuri Liscano.

The exhibition will present a wide range of work of art spanning from drawings and etchings, to collages, paintings, photographs and mixed-media installations, providing thus a glimpse of the rich and diverse contemporary artistic discourse in Venezuela. The work explores various themes relevant to Venezuela’s and Caracas’ current social and political contexts such as the ever-presence of violence, and the country’s relationship with power, as well as landscape, abstraction and color subjects seen through a local lens.

"Art Motion will present both edgy, subtle, urban-focused, expressionist, and poetic works" says Luisa Mariana Pulido, Executive Vice President of the non-for profit organization Sala Mendoza, "This project reflects Sala Mendoza's overall goal to support Venezuelan contemporary art through educational and cultural programs and exchange".

All sales from the exhibition will benefit directly to supporting the artistic and educational programs of non-for-profit organization Sala Mendoza.

Art motion will also present a series of performances and family-friendly events aiming to create cultural and educational exchanges around the pieces. Kids will learn about Venezuelan art in a fun and interactive way and will get a chance to create their own work on paper to bring home! Events are free will be take place on Friday, May 15th at Ludlow Studios, from 4pm to 5 pm and from 5:30pm to 6:30 pm (age +4, and art supplies will be provided for the activities).
