ABOUT

NINE is the title of a large project - sponsored by Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity and implemented by the Regional Museum of Contemporary Art in Palazzo Belmonte Riso, the Gallery of Modern Art in Palermo and by the Ars Mediterranea, in collaboration with the RizzutoGallery - which has at its center the work of the photographer Davide Bramante and constitutes a significant moment in his prolific career and cosmopolitan.

Bramante made his photographic works with the technique of multiple exposure during shooting, the result of multiple shots (four to nine) on the same piece of film, distinctive feature unique to Bramante who secured a well-deserved place in the photograph d ' art. This results in simultaneous visions of big cities, assembled portions of his many trips and his thoughts, attractive artwork and attractive places where the most representative of each city can coexist becoming interpretations of the collective spirit. The overlap is one of the most fascinating techniques of photography but used much more in the cinema. Bramante uses it to get out, go around the world and capture images, and rather than bring them back in a documentary reportage, it does get a work apart, another world.

The exhibition is divided into the two museums.

DAVIDE BRAMANTE | NINE

With the exhibition at GAM - whose title alludes briefly to the number of the Sicilian provinces - Bramante makes an "inquiry" on the works that are on the territory of the island and over the years have been acquired by collectors in Sicily, in addition to wanting to be a way to publicly thank those who believed and believe in his work. The exhibition starts in fact from a first major group of works from collections in Sicily. Having traveled the world and photographed hundreds of cities creating thousands of shots, for "globetrotter" Bramante - whose works are found in many prestigious collections both nationally and internationally - this show is perhaps above all a tribute to his native Sicily, a land rich stories, passages, of domination, of layers and images that inevitably contributed to the formation of his artistic DNA. In addition to the core group of works, the exhibition will be divided into three thematic sections. One consists of 3 new Photos of medium / large size, unusual and made tribute to Palermo specifically for this exhibition, the second is a series of watercolors of photos, the third is a new and unprecedented project of works printed on fabric, made in collaboration with the Seteria Argenti Como.

Born in Syracuse in 1970, Davide Bramante was formed in Turin, the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts. Her artistic curriculum includes extensive experience internationally, has authored more than sixty solo and group exhibitions in museums, foundations and galleries domestic and foreign, including the New York MoMA Museum, the MACI of Isernia, the Papesse Palace of Siena and the Kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin.
