We are delighted to welcome Dani Gal with two fantastic works. The first one will be accompanied by the pianist Andreas Schulz, the other will have it’s world premiere within our format:

Wie aus der Ferne (As From Afar), 2013, 26:49 min
The complex friendship between Simon Wiesenthal the so called “Nazi hunter” and Albert Speer, the third Reich’s chief architect and close confidant reenacted through a lens of a short text by Ludwig Wittgenstein about memory images. The film looks at the process of creating images of memory and history through filmmaking. 

"Wie aus der Ferne" will be accompanied by the live performance of the conductor and pianist Andreas Schulz. Born in 1982 in Alma Ata (Kazakhstan), he came to Germany at younger ages, he received as an already excellent musician a scholarship of the International Musicacademy for Sponsorship of High Flyer in Germany. He studied piano at the "Hanns Eisler" College of Music in Berlin under the tutelage of Professor Galina Ivantsova. He received his diploma in 2009. Directly after the diploma he received his training as orchestra conductor under General Music Director Georg Christoph Sandmann. Andreas Schulz was the founder of the Youth Symphony Orchestra Berlin, and is its chief conductor


A Woman of Valor: an Interview with Hedy Epstein, 2015, 42:00 min
Dani Gal met Hedy Epstein during her visit to South Germany where she returned to her village and stayed for two nights in the house she was displaced from as a Jewish child in 1939. In the interview, Epstein is talking about her childhood in Nazi Germany, returning to Germany after the war, the Palestinians right of return, her attempts to enter the Gaza strip, her activities in the West bank, Hungar strike and more.
