ABOUT

A series of events which continue to unpick residency artist Song-Ming Ang’s interests in music and its relationship to the amateur. Alongside screenings, workshops, performances and talks, Ang will present Music Manuscript, an ongoing series of works using music manuscript paper as a basis for creating visual compositions, and a selection of his films.

Music: Unsung Heroes, Wednesday 22 April, 7.00-9.00pm 
A listening party featuring record store owners and employees playing and talking about their favourite music. 

Workshop: What We Write About When We Write About Music 1, Saturday 25 April, 10.00-3.00pm 
Aimed at aspiring music writers, Laura Snapes, Features Editor at NME magazine, leads a music-writing workshop.


Performance: Can’t Help Falling in Love, Saturday 25 April, 4.00-5.00pm 
A performance lecture by Song-Ming Ang about the seductive qualities of art and music. 


Workshop: What We Write About When We Write About Music 2, Sunday 26 April, 10.00-3.00pm 
Jennifer Lucy Allan, Online Editor of The Wire Magazine, leads a music-writing workshop, offering an introduction to music journalism. 


Film Screening: No Idea But in Things, Sunday 26 April, 4.00-5.45pm 
A screening of No Idea But in Things (Hauke Harder and Viola Rusche, 2012), a documentary on the life and work of American composer Alvin Lucier.
