Illegal souvenirs are made all the time. The phrase is often used to reference the trading of illegal items, from fake socks to human organs to poaching, the illegal hunting, killing, or capturing of protected animals. In this case however, the title suggests the less obvious everyday theft of time, money and ideas, which happens unconsciously, urged forward by human desire and dreams. The invited artists all have their own special collection of illegal souvenirs, from which they will display examples. The selected works are based on observations of the exchange between citizens and consumerism, displaying the power and influence of cultural capital.
