Alessandro Carboni presents Cartography as embodied datification through a talk and performance  January 31 at 11 am  in the section Capture Things at Transmediale Festival in Berlin.

The artist, inveted to Transmediale Festival, attended at the seminar Datafied Research, organised by the Centre for Participatory IT at Aarhus University, School of Creative Media at Hong Kong City University and Transmediale. The project involved Carboni and several artists and researchers who discussed about datafication, including “datafied self”,” datafied city”, “datafied management”, and call for a reflection on the darker forces involved in capturing and using data.

The presentation focuses on Em: toolkit, a tool for urban mapping make from the research of Alessandro Carboni regarding the relationship between space, city and body through visual arts and performance. It is a methodological approach for urban mapping and performance that is based on the application of processes that cross the self-reflective practices, ethnography, and performance practice. The aim is to apply a mapping process, through a series of phases, including the observation, analysis, extraction and execution, through the body, the data collected in the urban space. The result is a body-action that functions as a map.
